Oakhaven, October 17th – In a heartwarming display of community spirit, "The Corner Hearth" bakery in Oakhaven announced today the launch of “Dough for Dignity,” a program designed to combat local food insecurity. The bakery will donate one loaf of freshly baked bread for every ten loaves purchased by customers, with all donated loaves going to the Oakhaven Food Bank and the Sunrise Shelter.
Owner and head baker, Elias Thorne, expressed his motivation behind the initiative. “We believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food. As a bakery, we’re in a unique position to offer something comforting and essential. Seeing the increased demand at the Food Bank really spurred us into action."
The program officially began this morning and has already seen a positive response from the community. Social media is buzzing with posts using the hashtag #DoughForDignity, with many locals pledging to participate and support the cause.
“It’s wonderful to see local businesses stepping up like this,” said Maria Rodriguez, director of the Oakhaven Food Bank. “Fresh bread is a luxury many of our clients simply can’t afford. This initiative will make a real difference in their lives.”
Beyond the bread donation, The Corner Hearth is also organizing a volunteer day next month, encouraging staff and customers to help sort and pack items at the Food Bank. Details will be announced on their website and social media pages.
The "Dough for Dignity" program is a testament to the power of a local business to create positive change, one loaf at a time.
