Stockton, California – November 30, 2025 - At least four people were killed and ten others injured in a shooting that unfolded Saturday evening at a family gathering in Stockton, California, northeast of San Francisco. The incident occurred during the extended Thanksgiving weekend, shocking the community and reigniting the debate over gun control in the United States.
According to police reports and witnesses, the shooting took place at approximately 6:00 PM in what was initially described as a reception hall hosting a family celebration. Stockton’s Deputy Mayor confirmed the event was a child’s birthday party, lamenting on Facebook, “An ice cream shop should never be a place where families fear for their lives.”
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a statement via X (formerly Twitter) that “at this stage, approximately 14 individuals have been struck by gunfire and four victims have succumbed to their injuries.”
Eyewitness accounts paint a disturbing picture of the scene. The Los Angeles Times reported that upon arrival, first responders found victims scattered on the parking lot of the reception venue.
