Brussels, July 28th – In a move sparking debate about the future of its ‘Green Deal’ commitments, the European Union has finalized an agreement with the United States committing to significantly increase energy purchases from across the Atlantic. The deal, announced Sunday, will see EU member states purchase an estimated $750 billion (approximately €650 billion) worth of US energy – including oil, liquified natural gas (LNG), and nuclear fuel – over the next three years, averaging $250 billion annually.
